MineCanvas
In-game video screens for Minecraft with synchronized playback and local caching
About the project
MineCanvas is a client-server video playback system for Minecraft. The project consists of a Fabric client mod and a server-side plugin that together provide synchronized video screens directly inside the game world. The client resolves and downloads media using yt-dlp, caches files locally, decodes video with FFmpeg and renders the result onto custom surfaces in Minecraft. Playback is synchronized against server time, allowing multiple players to watch the same content together while keeping repeated playback and seeking independent from the network. The client is built as a multi-version project with shared core logic and separate compatibility layers for Minecraft 1.21.11, 26.2 and 26.3.
